Bee Season!
While looking at animal habitats, we decided to take a closer look at the life of bees. Artist Lisa Simms and Miss Bonnie helped us create a paper mache bee hive which we had so much fun using during our dramatic play.
Bee keeper Don Francisco visited as well and talked with us about honey making. At the end of the week, we enjoyed a wonderful slice of gooey, sticky honey cake!

Where the Wild things Live...
We're talking animals and their habitats this week at La Puerta Abierta Preschool. We've placed spiders in their webs, penguins in the snow, and we're creating a giant paper-mache bee hive to home a swarm of 18 little bees.

Adventures with Transportation Continued...
Our adventures with transportation continued last week. We made sail boats with recycled plastic bottles and watched them float (and sink). We learned our shapes, colors, and the concept of "half" in our paper sail boat art project. On Friday, we took our first field trip to the local fire station where we met Fireman Ruben who not only showed us the fire station vehicles, but also gave us a tour of the Santiago station.
